Over the last year and a half, the project Ao Monte sought to capture the work of some collectives and informal groups of artists that in the last 15 years have marked the city of Porto. Through the invitation to idealize and produce an artist’s book in a residency regime, the project Ao Monte gave the motto for the reunion or for the continuation of the work that they develop. The artist’s books that were produced during the course of Ao Monte are documents that mark and record the artistic work of these groups through the production of new creations that go beyond the function of mere repositories and appear here as a present and active documentation.

Ao Monte ends now with a final exhibition, opening on March 11, which presents the artist’s books produced by the 7 participating groups. On the last day of the exhibition, on April 1st, the launch of the final publication will take place as well as a closing celebration of the project.

Ao Monte is a project of Carmo Azeredo, Felícia Teixeira and João Brojo, which results from the collaboration between Saco Azul, Maus Habits and Cooperativa Árvore.
